Five and a Half is a Brooklyn-based design studio created by the wife-and-husband team, Judy Lee and Shawn Liu. Founded in the Spring of 2006, Five and a Half designs and creates things that are as beautiful to look at as they are functional to use.
Five and a Half made its debut in 2006 with a limited edition line of handmade notebooks which have since grown into their signature collection of artist journals, each adorned with cover photography and filled with sugarcane paper. The journals are now carried in boutiques and retail stores in major cities worldwide.
Now in its second year, the studio is adding another dimension to Five and a Half, combining art, photography, and graphic design to create stylish and useful accessories for the home and office.
Made with writers, illustrators, designers and artists in mind, Five and a Half’s signature artist journal is filled with pages of sugarcane fiber and postconsumer recycled paper, a textweight surface that is ideal for writing, drawing, and painting, while leaving the planet’s dwindling supply of trees untouched. There are useful details present in each journal ~ an inner pocket for looseleaf notes, and a perfect-bound spine so that each book opens flat for writing and drawing across the pages. The canvas paper covers feature original Five and a Half photography.
Five and a Half handmade journals are available for wholesale to select retailers. Please contact us – firstname.lastname@example.org – for more information.
